To some extent, an odd verdict. Michael Dunn, the gas station loud music killer, has been convicted of three counts of attempted murder for firing 9 shots into a vehicle containing four black teens who were playing loud music. But he was NOT convicted of murdering the 17 year old who died? nope, not convicted of that.
Dunn, Age 47, will however spend a heck of a long time behind bars.
A word to the wise: maybe you might want to avoid being overoptimistic about your chances of getting away with killing someone in a random unnecessary confrontation.True, Zimmerman escaped consequences. But Dunn did not. personally, I don't think it likely that the Florida popcorn shooter will ever spend time out of prison. He is 72 years old, for cry eye, if they give him 20 years how likely is he to outlive that?
There are some stupid juries out there, true, and sometimes perps can afford some pretty fancy legal help. O.J. Simpson for example beat the murder rap, until his second offense taught us all that he was probably guilty of the murders too. I am just thinking that the more cases like this crop up, the less willing juries will be to accept the silly phrase "but I was scared" when the shooter clearly was the one who initiated the confrontation.
