The good news is that more of the public is catching on to what scientists have been showing us for decades, i.e., that we are changing our climate and that has significant ramifications on extreme weather, the economy, and the planet we turn over to our children.

Sorry your feeling overwhelmed by bad/horrifying news, Chris. I get that way sometimes, too. Much of it just absolutely boggles the mind. Larry is right, though. In so many ways we, in general are so much better of, for the most part, and some of the proof of that is that when we see these horrifying things, it does in fact register as "horrifying" to us, instead of us possably seeing it as "typical", "normal", and possably even "justified", or "right". Many more of us, as Human beings recognize it for what it is.

As has been explained to you many many many times, extreme weather is consistent with the increasing warming of our planet. And we are certainly likely to see more and more big storms - rain in the summer, snow in the winter - as we continue to throw off the natural short-, medium-, and long-term climatic patterns.

Here's a brief primer if you can bother to read and assimilate it:

Thanks for commenting there, David. I note how the denialists wandered away from my basic point here, that a blizzard does not disprove global warming. it is not rocket science! New England still sees midwinter temperatures under 32 degrees Fahrenheit, and it will take a century or more until that is no longer the case. In the meantime, the noteworthy aspect of this week's blizzard is not cold temperatures, but rather the immense amount of moisture in the storm. Which is completely predicted by climatology.

Guys, I used to think that demonstrating reality to the obdurately ignorant had value for those who read the discussion, but now I just ignore them. As you pointed out, the idea of these two "educating" anyone, much less climatologists, on global warming is laughable (well, if I actually visualize it, it's even more embarrassing than laughable - sort of like watching Jerry Lewis in his worst movies), and I'm not willing to give them an excuse to expand on their introductory stupidity by arguing and letting them "explain" it.
